Johnny Bonneville and Fiddlin' Phil Swaby
DVD Video - Running time 22 minutes
Alan Lomax wrote about Huddie Ledbetter in his book, "Folk Songs of North America", saying, "This Louisana farm laborer and convict will emerge as one of the most important musical figures of the 20th century. This statement might not seem to make sense at first because Huddie wrote, played and died before his music became popular, or before Rock N' Roll had ever been invented. But to the astute listener his influence cannot be ignored. His songs and more importantly his style can be heard in much of today's popular music. The goal of this medley is to express his contribution to music today. These five songs have been arranged to tell us about his life and also serve as a reflection on the various artists who have recorded his music since his death.
